BEACH DAYS
Coming from Canada you only get about 4 months to squeeze in as many beach days as possible. From years of travelling much of the east coast I’ve come to realize the many shapes and sizes of beaches. From different types of sands to hills to tides, all beaches are different.
Today I travelled between Panama City Beach and Seaside, Florida. What an experience. Seaside & nearby Grayton Beach are a totally different experience. Hardly relative to the chaotic tourist trap [and generally good time] that is Panama City Beach. Seaside is a laid back, summer loving beach town, that breathes deep and exhales slowly. Grayton Beach is my jam. Whether it’s the well stated and generally appropriate aesthetic, or the atmosphere that radiates off the pedestrians, retail outlets and even the architecture- Grayton breeds good vibes.
Seaside provides it’s visitors and residents just as much cycling/walking path as it does road for vehicles. No sharing the road here- cyclists have their own path. Each store has a carefully considered aesthetic that just fits. Things like gas stations are hidden behind the main strip and even still maintain “the look”.
In the end it’s all beachfront, but the standard that backs the beach is far greater. I will be back.
